About This Film
Film Overview
Yusuf, a serious-minded college student, is asked by his aunt to drive the family's fine china 250 miles from Jakarta to Jogjakarta, the traditional site of their family weddings. His cousin is getting married in three days, and the porcelain is too precious to be flown. The bride's sister, Ambar, is a party girl who misses the family flight after carousing too late the night before. Ambar decides to tag along with Yusuf on the ride to the wedding, and together they embark on a road trip that ends up taking three days instead of one. Ambar is confused about what she wants out of life and how to get it; she only knows she doesn't want to end up like her sister the bride. Petulant and spoiled, she's trying to find herself in materialism and too many boys and drugs. Now, as the cousins spend time together, they begin to see the importance of things outside themselves. A soundtrack of catchy pop tunes accompanies the young people on their smoke-filled journey along the highways and byways of modern Indonesia. If you've ever wanted to visit the country, this one's for you. Sloe-eyed heartthrob Nicholas Saputra stars as Yusuf. (In Indonesian and Sundanese with English subtitles) — BB
