About This Film
Film Overview
Milena is indeed a good wife with a good life. Her husband, Vlada, is successful. They have beautiful children, and they live in a desirable neighborhood. That comfort is broken when Milena discovers, at a routine physical, she has a lump on her breast. In denial of this portent, she embarks on an obsessive house-cleaning mission, during which she finds a videotape. On it is old footage in which her husband and his army unit coldly execute bound Bosnian civilians. Suddenly her secure and comfortable world is threatened on two fronts. One is the cancer that might take her very life. The other is a malignancy much harder to remove, a crossroads at which she finds herself forced to choose between what is known and what is true. Rich in both visceral and cerebral tension, A GOOD WIFE engages on a number of levels. Seeing the world through abruptly opened eyes, Milena must decide what survives and how. Will she sustain an illusion now shattered, or will she risk everything for justice? –C.R.
