Film Overview

When the 2025 LA wildfires ripped through Altadena, they left behind more than scorched earth, they shattered families’ sense of safety, memory, and home. Ten-year-old Maddie loses everything she’s ever known, including her most precious companion: a stuffed animal named Foxy. To Maddie, Foxy wasn’t just a toy; she was a cuddly symbol of her childhood, a last link to a beloved late family friend who gave it to her, and a constant source of comfort in a world suddenly turned upside down.

Amid the rubble, Jeff, Maddie’s father, still wrestling with his own grief, refuses to let the fire take the one thing they still have – hope. He sets out to recreate Foxy with the help of a compassionate plushie company, named (appropriately) Budsies. Ultimately, A Magic Thread is a human story about connection, community, and the magical threads that help us heal.
