Film Overview
The title may sound vaguely familiar, but this unique post-World War I drama by Pat O'Conner (CAL) stands above the many British period films of the last few years. Colin Firth (ANOTHER COUNTRY) stars as a troubled WWI vet hired to excavate a long-covered painting from a church wall in the small town of Oxgodby. The mysterious circumstances surrounding the painting's commission and subsequent concealment, as well as the identity of the painter, are eventually uncovered amid a month of new friends, secret love, and warm weather. The film's lyrical, picturesque style and intriguing mystery are a pleasant prelude to summer.
