About This Film
Film Overview
Join us in celebrating A.O. Scott, film critic at The New York Times, frequent contributor to the paper’s Book Review and Sunday Magazine, and a constant champion of film festivals. Mr. Scott will be our guest at our Special Presentation: A One-on-One Conversation with A.O. Scott and the Plain Dealer’s Joanna Connors. We will gather at The Ritz-Carlton Cleveland for a 90-minute program, where Mr. Scott will discuss film, art, and the importance and evolution of film festivals. Ticket price includes a paperback copy of Mr. Scott’s book, Better Living Through Criticism: How to Think About Art, Pleasure, Beauty, and Truth, which was published to wide acclaim in 2016. Mr. Scott will be available after the program to sign copies of his book (additional copies will be available for purchase). Space is limited, so be sure to make your reservations today. Mr. Scott will be joining us during CIFF41 as we will be presenting him with our inaugural Distinguished Award of Appreciation on Sunday, April 9th as part of our Closing Night Ceremonies. Mr. Scott was selected to be the first recipient of this award because we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for his genuine appreciation of film festivals — a topic that Mr. Scott has often written from and about. Anyone in attendance at any of the films showing on Closing Night is invited to join us for the awards presentation program at Tower City Center.
