Film Overview

Set during the Willie Clancy Summer School in Miltown Malbay, A Song follows Noel, a reserved music teacher who spends his days guiding young students while quietly carrying the weight of his past. When he forms a connection with James, their growing intimacy begins to stir long-suppressed memories – particularly of Noel’s estranged mother, a celebrated Irish singer who left her family years ago.

Now, with her unexpected return to perform in town, Noel must confront the emotional distance that has defined his life. A Song is a lyrical and intimate exploration of identity, queer connection, and the echoes of music as both memory and healing.
