About This Film
Film Overview
“How can you hate me when you don't even know me?” Thus asks Daryl Davis, an accomplished African-American musician with a somewhat unusual collection. As a result of trying to answer that question, there resides in the home of this articulate and charming man an assortment of robes, hoods, patches, and posters from the KKK and other white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups. The amazing part is, they were given to him by members who have renounced these groups after meeting Daryl. Raised in integrated areas through the travels of his Secret Service father, Daryl learned late the frightful fact that some people hated him for being black. He set out to discover why—not by commiseration, but by boldly meeting the very people who felt this way. ACCIDENTAL COURTESY: DARYL DAVIS, RACE & AMERICA invites you into the homes and rallies of Grand Wizards and Nazi leaders with Daryl as host. What you will see and hear will surprise you. You will love meeting Daryl, a big-hearted, rock ‘n’ roll loving, authentic American hero. –C.R.
