Film Overview

Alex is an actress, Elliot is a musician, Alex and Elliot are married. Alex has just landed a great new role alongside a talented (and strikingly handsome) single actor. She soon realizes that she has a huge amount of chemistry with her co-star and struggles to hold herself back, but she just can't turn the chemistry off. She soon realizes that when the line between reality and performance is blurred, commitment requires a little creativity. Produced by Noah Baumbach, director of “The Squid and the Whale,” ALEXANDER THE LAST is a sensual and intimate portrait of a young marriage. Focusing on an artistic young couple, it illuminates the challenges of monogamy when sexual and creative temptations arise. While only 28-years-old, and in a new marriage of his own, Joe Swanberg creates a poetic in-depth study of the lengths that some people go to in order to make a relationship work. – W.F.G.
