About This Film
Film Overview
Observe the common rooster: his color and texture tell us everything about him. Observe, if you will, the common man: the same can be said for him. ALL ABOUT THE FEATHERS is an unusual bromance (dare we say crowmance?) between a taciturn Costa Rican security guard and his beloved bantam. Chalo is a night watchman in a broken-down warehouse that houses no visible wares. He spends his time trying to fix the TV antenna and sleeping on the job. His nagging boss assigns him a loco partner who tells Bible stories and ponders the Cosmos. Candy, the friendly housemaid next door, tries to cut him in on her Avon sales. Chalo eats and sleeps with—and dreams about—his newly-acquired rooster, Rocky. He has plans to turn Rocky into a champion fighter—if only life wouldn’t keep getting in the way. This quiet gem is reminiscent of Jim Jarmusch movies, with its long traveling shots and hilarious deadpan humor. (In Spanish with subtitles) —B.B.
