About This Film
Film Overview
Claude Lelouch's whimsical and antic new comedy (and 33rd film!) opens in a hospital where three men have all just failed in their suicide attempts. They share a cause for their desperation: the women who left them. As these acquaintances get to know one another, comradeship blossoms into friendship-which can sometimes be described as the art of making a fool of oneself in company-leads to acting like jerks in public, and a run-in with the law. Their story criss-crosses with that of two upper-middle-class couples (lawyers and judges) who are already engaged in an adulterous criss-cross of their own. In the end, the antics of the suicide survivors will be considered in court by the two couples, who, above suspicion, have simply mastered the art of controlling their own stupidity in public. With comic and sexy interludes by the seaside and atop Mont Blanc, this is an exuberant vacation of a film.
