About This Film
Film Overview
The percentage of accused rapists who walk free in this country is astronomical and weighted heavily in the perpetrator’s favor. “Enough!” says a group of Texas-based women, all failed by law enforcement and the courts, who join a class-action lawsuit to rid the United States of its broken, sexist system. When the justice system repeatedly fails you, do you give up and try to move on? Or do you double down and fight harder? This is a difficult decision many survivors of sexual assault must contend with. But in 2018 three brave women and their tireless lawyers chose the latter when they filed a class action lawsuit against the Austin Police Department and District Attorney for their failure to pursue sexual assault cases. In a groundbreaking approach, they asserted that systemic mishandling of these cases was due to gender discrimination and violated the plaintiffs’ constitutional rights. As more women joined the suit, the demand for action on many fronts grew despite the long uphill battle before them. This empowering documentary presents a tale of perseverance and resilience, proving that, even in the face of disheartening setbacks, there is AN ARMY OF WOMEN supporting one another in their fight for justice, accountability, and control of their own stories. —D.O.Content Warning: This film contains material that may be difficult for some viewers.
