Film Overview

In rural France, all Nejma wants is to train as a bullfighter and earn the respect of her male-dominated community. But after a terrible accident where she wakes up covered in blood, she begins noticing disturbing changes in herself, as word spreads that young men have been dying at the hands of a missing bull.In the Camargue region of the South of France, daring youths participate in the local tradition of bull running. Only one woman, 22-year-old Nejma, takes her place in the arena. Taunting and evading the animals with increasing boldness, Nejma seeks to prove she is an equal with men—inside and outside of the arena. But both situations put Nejma at risk, as a different threat looms over the community of riders: a bull is on the loose and young men are being killed. As Nejma’s desire for freedom battles her need for safety, she confronts the forces of nature beyond the confines of the race. Must Nejma submit to brute force, or can she find the strength to face it down?Content Warning: This film contains material that may be difficult for some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised.
