Armin

A Bosnian teenager and his father are waiting for a bus in their small, war-pocked village; they're bound for the big city of Zagreb, Croatia. Armin is an expressionless youth who quietly tolerates the outbursts of his irascible father, Ibro, at all the little misfortunes of their journey. And there are plenty of these, since first the bus is late and then it breaks down entirely. This infuriates Ibro, for his boy Armin has an appointment to audition for a German-made movie about the war in the Balkans. Though they're sick of hearing and thinking about the war, the hard-up pair are hoping desperately that Armin gets a part in the film. When they finally get there, Armin is awed by the city and embarrassed by Ibro for acting like a rube and telling everyone they meet about his big audition. Ibro is a man used to adversity and willing to do anything, including trailing the film crew and buying them drinks he can't afford, to help his boy get this chance in life. When Armin suffers a seizure during the audition, it looks like they can forget their big chance. But he and his father discover that together, they have something more important than the movie.
