About This Film
Film Overview
Aviva is being loved nearly to death. She's the rock of an extended Israeli family, all of whom are needy and leaning on her heavily. There's an exhibitionistic mom and a feeble dad, a jobless husband, a sister whose unfulfilled career goal is to get pregnant, and a brother-in-law who's insanely jealous. Her three kids are adrift in varying degrees of alienation. Unfailingly patient with her suffocating family, Aviva is simultaneously a tremendously gifted writer. Beautiful stories burst out of her as she scribbles down ideas whenever she can snag some time. Aviva desperately wants — no, needs — to be a published author. In an effort to do this one thing for herself, she seeks the advice of her renowned writing professor. It turns out he's stuck with an interminable and humiliating case of writer's block. When he makes Aviva a proposition he assures her is to their mutual advantage, she has to figure out a way to keep her creative voice heard. AVIVA MY LOVE won multiple awards from the Israel Academy of Film and Television in 2006. Best Actress Asi Levy delivers a soulful performance as Aviva. (In Hebrew with English subtitles) – B.B.
