Film Overview

In a world turned yellow, a man who feels unfit for this reality returns to his mother’s home with a simple but difficult question: can I kill myself before you die? The film follows how they both face this unthinkable request.

It is a surreal and emotional journey that asks what it means to feel unseen, and explores the redemptive power of being understood. Based on the 2024 album One Year, the film blends narrative storytelling with spoken word poetry (including Grammy-nominated poets Aja Monet and Sekou Andrews, and Tony Award winner LaChanze). Beach Day offers a raw, honest exploration of mental health.
