BEAR HUG

Based on the idea that polar bear cubs are as vulnerable as children, despite the fact that they will one day grow into the largest carnivorous animals on Earth, BEAR HUG draws a clear comparison between polar bears and humans. All of the polar bear?s survival skills are learned as it plays with its mother, until age two, when the cub must leave to be on its own. Like a cub himself, Da-Jun is a nine-year-old boy whose parents are divorced. He lives with his father and his father?s girl friend, but anticipates visits from his mother, a flight attendant who has little time between flights. Da-Jun is basically being raised by his teenage cousin, Fi-Yen, who hates the job. But she alone understands the boy?s needs. Can a boy really learn to stand on his own when his parents send him away?
