Film Overview

Conceived as a follow-up to Arthur Hiller's 1979 his THE IN-LAWS, BIG TROUBLE once again teams up Alan Arkin, Perer Falk, and Richard Libertini in a parody of Billy Wilder's film noir classic DOUBLE INDEMNITY. Here, a wacky adventurer (Falk) and his sexy wife (Beverly D'Angelo) plot Falk's death. The two coerce an insurance salesman (Arkin) into the plot, who, with his wife (Valerie Curtin), desperately needs his share of the $5 million pay-off to put their musical prodigy triplets through Yale. This talented cast is supported by the likes of Charles Durning and Robert Stack, who give fine performances. Like the screwball comedies of the past, the humor in BIG TROUBLE is strongly based on social consciousness. There's little logic here, but plenty of entertainment!
