About This Film
Film Overview
A warm and appealing love story with a rare twist of enchantment, this charming French romance won critical acclaim during its recent world premiere in Paris. When his schoolwork fails, Marc (Meynier) is forbidden by his parents to see the young salesgirl, Martine (Dubos), with whom he has fallen in love. Marc loses his childish innocence when he discovers that not only his parents, but even his free-living older brother, interfere in his life for selfish reasons. A rare tale handled with exceptional understanding. This is director Andrieux's first feature film after previous work in documentary films, most notably “Mister Brown” (1973), an examination of racial discrimination in the United States. “The best film dealing with adolescence since Truffaut's masterpiece '400 Blows.'” -Newhouse Newspapers
