Film Overview

Drop whatever you’re doing and pay close attention. His name is Camiel Borgman and he knows your wife. Intimately. Long ago she nursed him back to health, but your wife was never a nurse. He’s lurking in the shadows of your home, and you can hear him talking to your kids late at night. Dogs appear and disappear in your hallways at random. Your gardener vanishes. Your wife may not be who you think she is. You wake up with an “X” tattooed on your shoulder. You’ve been marked. Alex van Warmerdam’s BORGMAN drops you directly into the nerve-wracking psyche of an aristocratic Dutch family as the title character begins to infiltrate their upscale home. As Borgman’s actions escalate, he brings his “colleagues” into the family’s lives and things begin to deteriorate. A ticking time bomb of inescapable pasts, unstable relationships, and bourgeois privilege, BORGMAN is a thrilling callisthenic head game with a hell of a lot to say. (In English and Dutch with subtitles) —C.P.
