About This Film
Film Overview
On Madrid, Pedra da Costa Perestrello wrote “Quien te quiere, no te sabe/Quien to sabe, no te quiere.” Or, “he who likes thee does not know thee. He who knows thee does not like thee.” What would the poet have made of the Chueca, the gay quarter of the Spanish capital? This is cruising territory for Daniel, a well-heeled and financially-successful lawyer with a taste for the exotic. He has his choice among the masses of recent refugees from Eastern Europe who seem to wind up in the Chueca and are largely ignored by much of society, except the police, who harrass them, and the guys who desire them. One newcomer is a half-starved Bulgarian, Kyril, who admits he has a fiancee back home but nonetheless goes to bed with Daniel. Daniel ends up doing his pickup's bidding, forging documents, smuggling contraband and even going to Bulgaria himself – to attend Kyril's wedding. Will Daniel still like Kyril, if he ever gets to know him? (In Spanish with English subtitles)
