Film Overview

Arguably Italy's most powerful and controversial director, Lina Wertmuller proves true to form with her lates work, CAMORRA. When the voluptuous Annunziata is found lying unconscious and slightly wounded next to a murdered man in her brothel, she is questioned by both the police and the mafia as to her involvement in the crime. Her Italian-American ex-lover (Harvey Keitel) harrasses her too, thinking she may have given something away to the police. Annunziata fears for her safety, but is caught off-guard when her son is kidnapped. It is the women of Naples, many of whom have lost their young children to drugs, who band together for an amzing and inspirations finale. Superbly acted and beautifully directed, CAMORRA is a steamy, passionate, high-voltage masterwork.
