Told in crisp black and white, this 1962 classic of the horror/shocker genre is a notable forerunner to the likes of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. A car full of young lovelies plunges over a bridge into a turbulent river. After a couple hours, one of the passengers, Mary, crawls onto a sandbar. Though shaken by her narrow escape, she is eager to move on to her new job in Utah. But before she even arrives, the horrors begin. Mary is stalked by an eerie figure with an ashen face, and begins to wonder if there might be a connection between her accident and the abandoned carnival on the outskirts of town. A cult favorite among the lucky few who had a chance to see it upon its original release, CARNIVAL OF SOULS retains all its ghoulish appeal almost three decades later.
