About This Film
Film Overview
In this bold Welsh drama packed with flourishes of whimsy, Louise Brealey (Sherlock) plays Helen, a chicken factory worker separated from but still living with her estranged husband and his new family with a much younger woman. Can the return of a childhood friend bring Helen a second chance at life?Helen’s only release from her daily grind is belting along to wall-of-sound classics. But that momentary catharsis isn’t reflected in her day-to-day life. Working the night shift at the chicken-packing factory and living with her insensitive ex-husband, his immature girlfriend, their new baby, and dying mother-in-law, Helen isn’t exactly living for herself. Unfulfilled and full of regret, she’s resigned to her mundane existence despite the encouragement of her friends at the factory. But when an old schoolmate returns to their sleepy Welsh town after being away for decades, some long-dormant feelings stir within Helen. The more time the two women spend together, the more Helen can hear the music. Can she finally let herself be happy? Or will local stigma and old wounds be too much to overcome? Wearing its heart on its sleeve, CHUCK CHUCK BABY is an endearing romance that celebrates friendship, self-love, and unapologetic feminine joy. —D.O.Content Warning: This film contains material that may be difficult for some viewers.
