About This Film
Film Overview
What are brothers for? Slacker Barry (Jonathan Silverman) tires of seeing Todd moping about his recent divorce, so he submits Todd's name to an online chat room but does not tell him it is for gays. Todd goes to meet Kelly (Wilson Cruz, “Party of Five”) for a COFFEE DATE and discovers the prank. But when they realize they are two with a love for movies, they take in a film. Then they plot revenge on Barry. They go back to Todd's room where Barry discovers them in the morning. And then? The neighbors saw them together; his co-worker spotted them at the theater; Barry calls mother (Sally Kirkland) and soon everyone “knows” that Todd is gay. Mother first beats herself up about her child-rearing and next calls PFLAG and becomes the ultimate mother of a gay man. Will anyone believe Todd is straight? Will he? Todd can think of only one other test to prove to himself that he is straight. Will that be enough? It brings a refreshing ending to what could have been a very formulaic movie. Best line: “You give great e-mail.” – T.D.
