br /> Martin, an eighth grader, has been acting strange for the past couple of days. He no longer laughs and refuses to clown around with his friends. His two best friends decide to spy on him. They follow him home where they discover his grim secret: Martin's mother has died suddenly, and as she lies in her bed, Martin has no idea what to do. He has been living alone with her and if other adults discover she's dead, he will surely be sent to an orphanage ? the last thing Martin wants. Soon a whole gang of kids is in on the secret. Sworn to reveal nothing, they live through a series of comical adventures in their attempts to keep Martin safely in their midst. It is not easy for twelve?year?olds to come to terms with the death of a mother, to figure out what to do with a body, or how to bury one in the dead of night
