Film Overview

A film of both great depth and brevity, CROSSED LINES offers a z perceptive look at Poland and the moral crises many people are undergoing as Eastern Europe embraces democracy. Tomasz is a young sociologist who, after a period in prison, has lost all faith in the Solidarity movement. He now has to earn his living driving a taxi, and lives with his wife in an apartment which they rent from her family. He is aware that his marriage is becoming stale. To further complicate matters, an attractive young friend of his wife comes to stay with them after being away in the US for a few years. Tomasz delivers wonderfully cynical internal monologues that break up the various “chapters” of the film as he drives his taxi through an unshackled Poland.
