About This Film
Film Overview
When Kurt Kuenne's best friend Dr. Andrew Bagby was murdered, Kurt decided to make a film to commemorate him—so that none of the dozens of people whose lives he touched could ever forget just how special Andrew was. On November 5, 2001 Andrew Bagby was shot five times in an abandoned park. Charged with his murder was the woman he had recently broken up with. However, before police could get to her, she fled to Newfoundland, Canada where she later announced she was four months pregnant with Andrew's child. Andrew's parents gave up everything in their lives, including their bank account, to move to Newfoundland and launch a custody battle for baby Zachary. Thus began Kurt's new mission—to make DEAR ZACHARY a film that would one day teach Zachary about the amazing father he would never know. But no one could ever guess what would happen next… — M.M.
