About This Film
Film Overview
Ah, the good old days at the drive-in. There were playgrounds, pony rides, trains and go-carts, little ponds with boats. There were orchestra concerts and fly-ins, waitresses on roller skates, food vendors pushing carts. There were windshield cleaning services, fireworks displays, drive-in churches, contests, and sometimes even monkey villages. Drive-ins had their heyday in the late 50s and early 60s. Always “second-runs,” the movies ranged from pretty bad to downright awful. Then TV took their business away, and we've been sitting at home ever since. A nostalgic look at the most American of all pop culture phenomena, DRIVE-IN MOVIE MEMORIES will make you long to drive on in to one of the 40 rebuilt drive-ins, visit the concession stand, hook your speaker onto your window, sit back, and relax. It's showtime! –B.B.
