Film Overview

Many may try to say that EAGLE VS SHARK is 2007's “Napoleon Dynamite,” but nothing can compare to this wickedly funny, endlessly quotable, offbeat love story from New Zealand. The film begins with Lily, a hopeless romantic, spending her days working at a fast-food restaurant trying to get Jarrod to notice her. Jarrod may be the man of Lily's dream, but clearly he is no prize. Apart from being the undefeated champion among his friends in one-on-one video games, he hasn't accomplished much of anything. His main focus in life is plotting revenge against a bully from high school. When Lily dresses as a shark and Jarrod (dressed as an eagle) finally connect at his “dress as your favorite animal” party, it may seem to be a match made in misfit heaven. Unfortunately, Jarrod has no time for a girlfriend since he's too busy “training” for his upcoming payback. As the scheduled day of reckoning arrives, Jarrod and Lily find something that goes beyond romantic fantasies and revenge – faith in who they truly are. – W.F.G.
