Following the critical and commercial success of ALWAYS (10th CIFF 1986) and NEW YEARS DAY,Henry Jaglom's newest film delves into the highly controversial subject of food and eating as emotional barometers for women. Helene has decided to throw a 40th birthday party for herself and has invited a few of her closest friends who, in turn, have invited friends of theirs. The 38 women attending the party range in age from 30 to 50, and all have fascinating and chic LA careers. As the conversations at the party progress, we discover the unique and powerful role that food plays in each of these women's lives.
