Film Overview

Young Eduart flees Albania and his family in hopes of finding fame and fortune in the rock music scene in Greece. Broke, with no prospects, he resorts to robbery and hustling to make a living. When one of his “clients” catches him in the act of thievery and Eduart makes the irrevocable mistake of killing him. This rash act sets in motion a chain of events that send him back to Albania. His mother and sister welcome him back, even after two years with no communication. But that love isn't enough to keep the peace as he lives in constant conflict with his father, a retired commander in the military. Ultimately, his past catches up with him and Eduart is sentenced to five years in a gulag-like Albanian prison. There, a German doctor, also serving a sentence, befriends him. Who is this mysterious doctor and what crime has he committed? As the tale progresses, he provides a mirror to Eduart of what confession and release from guilt can offer and, ultimately, leads him on a path of self-discovery. Presented in semi-flashback format, the tragic EDUART, “inspired by true events,” mirrors Dostoevsky's classic plot of redemption in the character, Raskolnikov.
