About This Film
Film Overview
NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE Well-meaning but awkward Caco is devastated after he walks in on his girlfriend Julia hooking up with an arrogant celebrity Argentine restaurateur. After a drunken night out, Caco’s scheming friend Vadão—an emotionally stunted, loose-cannon womanizer—decides the only way to get over this heartbreak is by traveling to Argentina to exact revenge on the chef. The two Brazilians then embark on an epic, mishap-laden road trip that culminates with Caco receiving closure about Julia, albeit in a manner he wasn’t anticipating. Along the way, the men encounter memorable characters (including a double-crossing runaway bride inexplicably hitchhiking in a wedding dress, border guards who confiscate their stash of Viagra, and a tough-talking band leader who doesn’t mince words about Caco’s ongoing self-pity party) and navigate their own love-hate relationship. EL REVENGE’s hilarious banter and farcical situations ensure the mood stays light throughout, despite Caco’s despair. Ultimately, the movie is a reminder that happy endings come from unlikely places—and friendship endures even when romance fizzles. (In Portuguese and Spanish with subtitles) —A.Z.
