Film Overview

br /> Set in yuppie-era 1989, Reichert's “political romance” spotlights fortyish documentary filmmaker Alice, unable and unwilling to finish her latest, a talking-head lament for the lost idealism of the 1960s. Inspiration strikes like a slap in the face when she meets Eddie, a young iconoclast with a cynical cable show and neither time nor respect for aging Age-of-Aquarians. Their respective heroes are Emma Goldman and Elvis Costello, and in a time of AIDS, recession and right-wingers, two generations of counter-culture can learn much from each other. A film for everyone with opinions, pro or con, about the 1960s, the 1980s, or Dayton, Ohio, where the picture was filmed using native Ohio talent. With commentaries by Angela Davis, Alice Walker, Tom Hayden, Holly Near and others.
