Film Overview

“Incarnation” literally means “embodied in flesh.” Encarnación, the protagonist of this Argentine film, is a prisoner of her own beautiful body. An aging starlet who no longer gets called to perform in the B-movies that made her somewhat famous, “Erni” still dresses like she's in her 20's. She lives alone in a small flat in the entertainment district of Buenos Aires, occasionally attending premieres and pretending in public that she's getting lots of phone calls. The fact is, Erni is lonely, and she doesn't seem to know how to get real. She just can't stop acting; when she's not playing the part of the “It Girl,” she's pretending to herself that she's happy. Invited by her niece Ana to attend her 15th birthday party, Erni takes a long bus ride out to the country, only to end up in another place she doesn't belong – her own family circle. She acts like a girlfriend to Ana, sleeps with a young hotel manager, and is alternately admired and reviled for who she used to be — and who she still is. A devastating comment on the plight of actors who need to be needed, ENCARNACIÓN stars Silvia Pérez, a former model and household name in Argentina. (In Spanish with English subtitles) — BB
