In this darkly comic drama, Kara, an actress gets a last-minute call from a living museum at the home of President George Washington to play enslaved housemaid, Caroline Branham. Learning the job as she goes, Kara tries to stay in character as she encounters visitors all too comfortable with the past. Her colleague Pearl—playing Martha Washington—wants to preserve the illusion for visitors.
