About This Film
Film Overview
Coffee, tea . . . or Bella? On the cusp of turning 35, the overworked Manhattan coffeeshop waitress feels herself so ground down by life in the metropoolis that she experiments with going to work in stiletto heels so she can relish the few extra centimeters of height advantage they give her. In search of warmth and affirmation, Bella grudgingly allows herself to be sent out on a date with Bruno, a somewhat irresponsible single dad cab driver and aspiring writer. Meanwhile her longtime customer Paul, an aging widower, tentatively begins an equally haphazard relationship with sixty-something Emily (Louise Lasser); he's one of the various misfits she's met through a lonely hearts column. Are they suited to each other's tastes? The plot's double-spoonfuls of relationships, stirred together like cream and sugar in your latte, brew up an eye-opener of a New York romantic comedy with a rare blend of ensemble acting talent, with both faces you know and names you should know.
