Film Overview

Chip is a gifted young dancer from the Midwest pursuing his dreams in New York. He lands a golden opportunity with a small troupe to perform at a festival. As these talented young dancers rehearse and get to know each other, a work of art emerges. Life on the other hand, as Chip discovers, is not so easy to choreograph. His alcoholic mother wants him to return to Kansas and bail her out of her problems. He has been kicked out by his roommate and is essentially homeless. Also another man in the troupe is making sexual advances that Chip both fears and discovers he wants. The dance of his life has begun and Chip needs to turn it into a triumphal work of grace before he stumbles and loses everything. Featuring a remarkably talented and beautiful young cast, FIVE DANCES is a poetic and erotic look at the place where creativity and self-discovery merge. It is a celebration of the beauty of the human body and the unbreakable spirit it contains. —C.R.
