Gattu

Cheeky nine-year-old GATTU is clever in the ways of the street. Illiterate and unwashed, he works in his uncle’s junkyard. In Gattu’s town, everyone is obsessed with kite-flying. One black kite called Kali rules the skies in battle, but no one knows who flies him. Determined to cut Kali down, Gattu discovers that a school’s forbidden roof is the best kite-flying site, and he poses as an exchange student to get access. But when Gattu pretends to read holding his books upside down, the other students smell a rat. Making the best of a sticky situation, Gattu enlists the kids as detectives on his “anti-terrorist mission.” Someone has infiltrated the school, he says, and he needs to get past the teachers and send a message to his handler by flying a kite from the roof. Gattu’s Mission Impossible-style plan involves locking the watchman in the loo and using a sheep as a distraction. Will Gattu’s hard-headedness pay off, or has he gone too far this time?
