GENTLEMAN BOYS

A warm, charming and humorous film about the adventures of three boys in a small Czechoslovakian town. Recalling the Tom Sawyer-Huck Finn stories of Mark Twain, the boys' escapades in the early 1900s are marked by a refreshing innocence. Very much a film for the family, the wistful nostalgia which runs through the film is quite appealing. Director Vera Plivova-Simkova studies directing at the Prague School and has been making feature films since 1964. Her work is largely for children and includes: “Kate and the Crocodile” (1965), “Snow White” (1972) and “Fun-Fair is Here” (1973).
