Film Overview

Original Title: Pani Kluci
English Title: GENTLEMAN BOYS

A warm, charming and humorous film about the adventures of three boys in a small Czechoslovakian town. Recalling the Tom Sawyer-Huck Finn stories of Mark Twain, the boys' escapades in the early 1900s are marked by a refreshing innocence. Very much a film for the family, the wistful nostalgia which runs through the film is quite appealing. Director Vera Plivova-Simkova studies directing at the Prague School and has been making feature films since 1964. Her work is largely for children and includes: “Kate and the Crocodile” (1965), “Snow White” (1972) and “Fun-Fair is Here” (1973). GENTLEMEN BOYS is notable not only for its gentle humor, but for the attention paid to period details. With English subtitles. DESCRIPTION UNDER “THE CHILDREN'S INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL:” An adaptation of Mark Twain's tales of the adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn set in a turn-of-the-century village in Czechoslovakia. This nostalgic and charming feature is fun for the whole family. (With English subtitles)
