Inspired by the traditional ghost and pirate stories of Nova Scotia, this adventure tale tells the story of a curmudgeonly old sea captain, a frustrated schoolteacher, a wimpy social worker and wicked foster parents. As these characters clash not only with each other but also with Captain Kidd and his gang of hilariously ghoulish ghost pirates, 10-year-old George gets caught in the mess that these silly adults make of the world. A whimsical screenplay full of twists and turns, plus a talented cast that was given carte blanche madness with their roles, give GEORGE'S ISLAND a sense of excitement and fun similar to Disney films of the 1950s and'60s.
