Film Overview

From the team behind 2019’s “Saint Frances” comes this tender and heartwarming drama about a construction worker who is pulled into a local production of Romeo and Juliet, only to find community and a way to work through his own family troubles. Co-starring Dolly DeLeon (“Triangle of Sadness”).Sensitive and often surprisingly funny, GHOSTLIGHT follows construction worker Dan as he struggles with a strained marriage and an increasingly unruly daughter. When he is recruited to the ranks of a local theatre troupe (led by “Triangle of Sadness” breakout Dolly De Leon) for their production of “Romeo and Juliet,” Dan finds a creative outlet that he doesn’t fully comprehend. As his daughter faces consequences for her actions and his own emotions turn increasingly explosive, Dan’s part in the play begins to unlock his buried grief, with art imitating life and vice versa. GHOSTLIGHT is a theatre-obsessed and touching testament to the power of artistic expression to heal what ails us. —C.F.Content Warning: This film contains material that may be difficult for some viewers.
