Film Overview

Original Title: Nachbeben
English Title: Going Private

The life of an investment banker is all about keeping up appearances, and H.P. Ammann appears to have it all: a high profile job, a swanky house on Lake Zurich, a beautiful wife named Karin, and a sexy Danish au-pair named Birthe. In Stina Werenfels's GOING PRIVATE, appearances are best when they are deceiving. No one knows that since the recent death of his partner Lollo, H.P. has been suffering severe financial losses and his marriage hasn't been faring much better. On a steamy summer afternoon, H.P. prepares for a garden party with boss Philip and his wife Sue. Planning to mix business with pleasure, H.P. is eager to pitch a “surefire” nanotechnology deal that will salvage his career. But H.P.'s enthusiasm for the evening quickly dwindles upon the arrival of an unexpected guest: Philip's hot young protégé Gutzler, cruising in late by motorcycle, poses a threat to H.P.'s career and his marriage. As the guests gulp down drinks in the setting summer sun, it's clear that H.P.'s tragic secrets won't be private for much longer. (In Swiss-German and German with English subtitles) – E.J.B.
