Film Overview
Raoul Wallenberg was the son of a prominent Swedish banking family. He enjoyed a good education, spoke a number of languages, and was trained in both banking and architecture. In 1944, at the age of 32, he was sent as an envoy of the Swedish Embassy to Nazi-occupied Hungary. His mission: to rescue Jews and other persecuted people from Nazi terror. In only six months, he was able to help hundreds obtain passports and flee their would?be murderers. After the liberation of Budapest, Wallenberg was arrested by Soviet soldiers. Even today his fate remains unclear. The cold-blooded brutality of the Nazis and Hungarian Fascists is vividly contrasted with Wallenberg's compassion for the Jews in the Budapest Ghetto in this study of terror, passion and courage.
