About This Film
Film Overview
Prepare yourself for an electrifying domestic drama that grips you from the start and doesn't let go until the final frame. On the day of his mother's funeral, Harald, a divorced man with a public record of abuse and mental and emotional instability, is told that his little daughter Lisa is too sick to attend even grandma's final rites. The girl's malady is a lie, of course, fabricated by Harald's ex-wife Cecilie, to prevent any chance of this dangerous and obsessive man getting near their child. Harald shows up at Lisa's school anyway, just in time to see her in the playground, and when the frantic Lisa stumbles on the pavement trying to escape he impulsively (?) kidnaps his daughter. Straightaway the deranged father becomes the target of a police dragnet throughout Scandinavia, and Lisa's bloodstained stockings found in Harald's abandoned car signify the worst. But against whom has the real injustice been committed? Torrell, a savvy lady cop and mother of one of Lisa's classmates, begins to wonder if there's more to this case than first meets the eye. Young actress Vera Rudi turns in an amazing performance, transcending barriers of language, as a child long-conditioned to despise and fear her dad, now growing to comprehend the person he really is while an unwilling captive. (In Norwegian with English subtitles)
