When director Nanfu Wang moves to the U.S., a birthday trip to Florida leads her to a chance encounter with a life-changing drifter. Intrigued by his livelihood of chosen homelessness, she accompanies 22-year-old Dylan on the streets to experience eating from the garbage, sleeping in the park, and observing complete strangers’ fascination with Dylan’s mission and unprompted willingness to give him a helping hand.
