About This Film
Film Overview
Isn't eleven the best age ever? You're not too little to understand what's going on, and you have ideas about the world. You care about music, or romance, or social justice. You definitely love your family, and you're sure there's a bright future ahead. I AM ELEVEN is a gem of a movie. Australian director Genevieve Bailey travelled the globe, interviewing 11-year-olds about their thoughts, hopes, and dreams. Meet some of the kids: Goh and Jack care for elephants in Thailand; Jamira is a bubbly half-Aboriginal Australian; Vandana and Ginisha live in an Indian orphans' home. Siham is a Berber from Morocco; Billy lives in London; Osama and Sahin are Arab immigrants in Sweden; Remi hails from France. And then there's Kimberly from New Jersey. Not surprisingly, they have different takes on all kinds of issues including war, climate change, culture, happiness, religion, and the future. Come along with the director the kids call “Gen,” and see what it's like growing up around the world today. (In English, French, Swedish, Berber, Mandarin, Bulgarian, Thai, Japanese, Malayalam, Hindi, and German with subtitles) –B.B.
