I Go to Tokyo

Sort of a Japanese version of THE-OUT-OF-TOWNERS, this pleasant comedy is about Gen Nonmiya, a young photographer living in Tokyo, and the unexpected visit he receives from his parents. Gen's slave-driving boss refuses to let him leave early to meet them. His parents are disappointed that he is only a mere apprentice and are disgusted by his filthy one-room flat. Things quickly disintegrate into a heated argument, but the day is saved when the parents meet Nobuko, Gen's co-worker and girlfriend. She takes them on a sightseeing tour of Tokyo with such success that the parents return home comforted by the thought that their son has good marriage prospects and is a hard worker.
