From the perspectives of his father and fiancée, a personal look at controversial figure Julian Assange (the WikiLeaks founder wanted in the United States for releasing top secret information) and his continued incarceration in London’s maximum-security Belmarsh Prison. —M.G.

After years of taking refuge in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, in 2019 Julian Assange was arrested and charged with espionage… a charge no journalist has ever previously faced in the United States. In an effort to increase government transparency for the people, Assange oversaw the release of a number of documents that have exposed corruption, abuses of power, and even war crimes through his controversial platform, WikiLeaks. Ironically, not one of the people exposed for wrongdoing has ever been charged for their crimes, but Assange has been living in legal hell for exposing them. Told from the rare perspective of Assange’s formerly estranged father, as well as Assange’s fiancée, ITHAKA is a powerful documentary that highlights the infuriating hypocrisy of Assange's case, as well as the increasing number of people around the world calling for his release. —G.S.
