Film Overview

?Pete Tong? is a Britishism for losing one?s grip, applied to DJ Frankie Wilde who lived up to his name by spinning late-night mixes in clubs on party-island Ibiza, Spain, guzzling whiskey, snorting coke, and surrounding himself with willing women. Pushed by his own inner demons, his unfaithful wife, and his greedy promoter, Frankie made a spectacle of himself everywhere he went. But it was the noise that finally got to him. Frankie?s poor ears were so abused after 11 years that they surrendered. And what good is a dj who?s not only drunk and paranoid, but deaf? This over-the-top film shows a show-biz guy at the height of his power, and falling into a severe silence. After a little Howard Hughes-like shut-in, Frankie finds salvation in meeting a deaf woman, Penelope, who teaches him to lip-read. He also teaches himself to make music again, and his fair-weather promoter books him for a live comeback. Will he really show up and play, or has he disappeared for good?
