Get an all-access pass to the life and times of Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, a.k.a. legendary queer folk-rock duo the Indigo Girls, using over 40 years of personal camcorder footage, audiotapes, archival material, and present-day interviews, in this stunning exploration of music history from Alexandria Bombach (“Frame by Frame”—CIFF39; “On Her Shoulders”—CIFF42). —M.G.

The Indigo Girls are singular musicians, known for being one of the few openly queer popular musical acts and for their dedicated, outspoken activism across many intersectional issues—and, of course, for their powerful music. IT’S ONLY LIFE AFTER ALL dives into the Indigo Girls’ personal archives to share a career’s worth of performances and candid behind-the-scenes moments, with no subject off-limits. In the film both singer-songwriters speak openly about issues of sexism, homophobia, and political apathy as they experienced them, all set to their treasured catalog of songs. The documentary celebrates the Indigo Girls as artists and people who continue to evolve and leave a profound impact. —C.F.
